How Full Member applications are assessed

When you apply, you complete a short assessment form about your network. The Membership Committee meets every fortnight and looks for evidence of six things:

  1. A documented record of every monitoring site, with photographs and siting details.
  2. Regular co-location or calibration against a reference instrument.
  3. Quality flags on published data, so users can tell good readings from doubtful ones.
  4. Data published openly, or a clear reason why not.
  5. A named data steward responsible for the network’s data.
  6. A plan for what happens to the network and its data if funding ends.

Most applications are decided within four weeks. Networks that meet all six carry the Assured Network mark and appear in the public directory. Those that don’t yet can join as Full Members while they work towards it.
